Family and Faith
Last week, Chris and I traveled to Florida to take our first cruise and to visit my dad, who is now in his 90s. It promised to be a special reunion, as my brother, sister, and I would be together for the first time in many years.
The cruise itself was beautiful and magical — the Caribbean Sea, with all its inspiring plant and sea life, was a true masterpiece created by our Master Creator. Chris and I enjoyed an incredible time in a beautiful place, filled with rest, refreshment, rejoicing, and reflection.
However, the time with my family proved much more difficult. There are still many unhealed wounds, and it reminded me how deeply we all need God’s grace and healing.
As I approach my 35th spiritual birthday this Wednesday, my heart is filled with gratitude — for the hope and faith, the repentance and forgiveness, and the wisdom and discipling that God and His Kingdom have brought into my life. These have helped me deal with many challenges, past and present.
At the same time, my heart is saddened when I see that not everyone chooses to embrace these gifts. Over the course of many decades, the absence of God’s healing and wisdom can take an even harder toll on a person’s heart and life. It reminds me of just how much we all need the love, truth, and guidance that only God can provide.
Still, life is a spiritual battle and it is darkest just before the dawn. God often works through the hardest times to bring about the greatest victories.
Thank you for your continued love, support, and prayers — especially for my family. They are deeply appreciated.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
